Cool It!

Ever hear of a guy named Bjorn Lomborg? I hadn't either, until recently. He's a Danish statistician who labels himself "The Skeptical Environmentalist," and has written a book called
"Cool It" (available on our shelves) that presents a different and interesting perspective on environmental concerns. He might make you angry, but he won't bore you.

Everything Ain't All Right!

I just finished reading "Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned," by Wells Tower. This is first book, but his fiction and journalism have been published in lots of prominent magazines. You won't "enjoy" it, but this collection of short stories is insightful and moving in many ways. It's in FPPL's collection, so give it a try!

Youth Services Rocks!

Today's Forest Park Review contains a column about our Youth Services Department here at the library. I'm here to tell you that every bit of Stephanie Kuehnert's praise is deserved, and more besides!

Email Reminders @ Your Library

Did you know you could get notification about reserves, overdue books, and other library business via email? It's easy! Just call or stop by the library, and ask to have your email address added to your account. Once that's done, you'll get email when a book or movie comes in for you, as well as courtesy notifications a couple of days before an item is due.

(You can also get lists of new books and CDs in your favorite subjects, and keep up with all the events happening at the library.)

The Library Goes Green!

In early celebration of Earth Day on April 22, we're celebrating all month at the library with a new "Go Green" lobby display full of books on green living, organic foods, as well as tips on how to recycle and reduce your ecological foot print. Stop by the library and check it out.

Also, check out these earth-friendly links to learn more about how you can go green at home:

Don't forget to check out the library catalog or visit the Reference Desk for more materials on green living.
